Writer's Workshop: 5 things I love about camping

We love to camp. This summer we would like to go 1 time each month. Having 5 kids often makes this difficult. Dad thinks that they should all be able to bring a friend which would take to total # of kids to 9. Just imaging cooking for 9 children...3 of whom are very picky....over a camp fire. With that being said here is my

Top 5 List of My Favorite Things I Love about Camping

5. Getting away from home. No laundry or dishes to speak of for 3-5 days.

4. Roughing it. I actually love cooking having Joey cook over a campfire. There is just something about eating all that charbroiled goodness. I love the feel of a shower at the end of the night in a shared (with 100's of other dirty campers) bathroom. I love the feel of sleeping outside in our pop-up camper. There's nothing like it.

3. S'mores. 'Nough said bout that!

2. Family time. I love getting to hang out at the playground all day. Swimming in the pool whenever we want. Doing the activities that the campground has. Sitting around the campfire. Taking the dog for walks. I enjoy being together.

1. COMING HOME TO A/C. After a hot week cramped up in a shity small pop-up camper with 3 stinky boys and 1-3 dirty dogs there is nothing like coming home to take a real shower, lay in my clean bed and read my book in the coolness that is my central air. One can only take so much 'family time' together.

I love, love, love camping as well! We are headed out tomorrow for a quick weekend. We recently upgraded our popup to a hardtop camper! It is loaded, even a microwave! I love it. Have fun camping when you go and enjoy your family time.
