Glad I'm not the only one

....who falls off the face of the blogging world for weeks at a time. Some of my favorite blog authors have also been expressing their sympathy for not bogging lately.

We have been super busy with basketball games. Mariah is playing on the 8th grade team, Dad (Joey) coaches both 7th and 8th grades. I have been driving the bus for both the varsity boys' and girls' teams to their games. [This coming week I have a ball game to watch EVERY. NIGHT.] Then comes spring and baseball and track and field trips and it's even busier. I can't wait for summer vacation.

Monday, February 8, my mother found my step-father asleep and incoherent at one of the business they own in their small town. She took him home to where he didn't come around too well so called an ambulance. Sometime early Tuesday morning he had a very severe stroke. There was a lot of brain damage. Through out all of this there have been other developments which my mom needs lots of prayers for. So if you are the praying type please pray for her strength and guidance.

My step-father is soon going to have to go to an inpatient nursing facility where he will continue to receive dialysis, his kidneys have been affected by all of this, and will have speech, physical, and occupational therapies. It's going to be a long road for all of us. So please pray for my mom and our family.

I was speaking with a co-worker Friday night who I found also enjoys quilting, and we tossed around starting a quilting group here in town. We'd like it to be for employees of our school. From the sound of things there are several teachers and staff who also quilt. Do any of you have ideas? We probably wouldn't charge a membership fee, but I was thinking of having each lady bring in a fat quarter of material and then we would each pick a new piece before going home. That's about as far as it's gotten. Maybe an all day Saturday thing at the school. Set up in the cafeteria. Everyone brings a current project and sews all day, uninterrupted. Any tips would be great.

Well, that's my little update. Hopefully I will hit the sewing machine a little this week. I've got to pick a new book from my shelves. Planning on making a salad dressing cake this afternoon...it's our favorite!

Have a great week, and hopefully you'll hear from me soon.

Heather,
I had absolutely NO idea that this had happened to your step-dad. I will be praying for him and your mom. I can't imagine having to go through this!!!

You sound very very busy with driving and Joey coaching. I can see why you're looking forward to summer vacation!!

I think your quilting idea sounds fantastic! I like the idea of donating a fat quarter and spending a whole day without interruptions!

I wish I lived down there so I could be of some help to you!!

Lots of love!
