Even Super Heros Need Naptime
Halloween Candy
It seems that recycling and eating healthy are all the rage now-a-days so I thought I'd work on both today.
The kids are going to HATE me!
I found this yummy recipe for Candy Bar Cookiesrecycling using candy bars....and let me tell you they are yumm-o! I used 7 snack size Snickers and could have put in a few more. Several cookies don't have candy bars but still are going to be yummy. They taste like peanut butter cookies.
And I'll say it must have been a man who wrote the recipe because I made a ton of cookies not just 18. Try 'em they are yummy.

I also tried freezing some candy this year. I've never done this before but have seen it suggested all over the internet. I ended up putting away 6-quart bags of candy. So now instead of a huge bowl and bucket of candy we are down to about 1/2 of the bucket. As you can see I had to move aside all the other health foods in the freezer to make room for the candy.
See healthy and recycling all in one day.
I also wanted to share some pictures of Simon. He fell asleep with the dog on the couch yesterday afternoon. I just love to look at him sleeping. He looks so peaceful and innocent. What a pumpkin head!

Enjoy your day.
Happy Halloween
Here's what we did today......

Jeff Hardy won some WWE belt thing and celebrated his victory on top of his desk
Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus were in the same room at the same time proving that they are indeed 2 separate people!
We had a rare siting of a pretty ballerina in our living room for a brief second and then she was off to terrorize the town.
Peter Pan won 1st place in the local costume contest for preschoolers. He is seen here with his girlfriend the princess. (They hugged earlier in the night when we were out trick-or-treating but I didn't have the camera on.)
The Hardy Brothers made an appearance at the local Halloween party! The fans went wild...check out the cowgirl next to Jeff. She was in awwe.
An over abundance of candy was gathered tonight. (Notice the chocolate is separated from all the other candy. This way everything doesn't end up tasting like stale chocolate.)

Causing this little fella to eat way tooooo much.

I hope that you all had a wonderful Halloween.
Homemade Halloween
One of the things that I like most about my kids is that they don't always feel like they have to have new stuff and homemade Halloween costumes are okay. This year I made a tutu for Laney who is going to be a 'ballerina'. Not the cute, pink and frilly kind but the punk, funky kind. Her and a friend are dressing up in what they have from home and going out Friday night.

Alex and his buddy are going to be the Hardy Brothers. The wrestler guys. I know nothing about WWE but these two boys are siked about trick-or-treating. I helped them out by making a Hardy Brother necklace for the neighbor boy. They are going to another town that is a little bigger to trick-or-treat, and then going to a Halloween party there.
Can you tell which one is real and whick if the homemade one? I've got to say I think I did a pretty awesome job. Alex did buy a new Jeff Hardy t-shirt and suckered us out of a new pair of jeans...but it's all stuff he will wear again so his is pretty much homemade too.
Mariah is going as a Harajuku girl. And her costume was all purchased, which sometimes can be easier. I think this is what her costume looks like. Her friend that she's trick-or-treating with is going as the same thing but she is using things from home.

I've decided what I'm going to be, but I'm going to keep you in suspecense until Friday!

Halloween Fun
I love doing all the traditional Halloween fun things. Visiting the pumpkin/apple farm, carving pumpkins, planning the perfect Halloween costume, getting the perfect candy to hand out to trick or treaters, etc.
Well today we marked off 2 of the many fun Halloween traditions. We visited Gull Meadow Farms for a huge corn maze, fun stuff for the kids, and browsed in the shop. We didn't end up getting donuts or cider because the line was way too long. And we had stretched our time limit with the 2 year old.
This one is mine.
And Simon's (done by mom).
What are you going to be?
